Create a simple outdoor board using chalk, hoops, cones, number cards or playground markings. Children move around the board in pairs or small groups. Each space has a 3x or 4x table question.
When a child lands on a space, they answer the question before moving again. For example, they may land on 3 x 6 or 4 x 8. They can say the answer, count in multiples, use jumps, use objects or explain how they worked it out.
Keep it supportive. If children are not ready for instant recall, let them count in 3s or 4s first. The aim is confidence and repetition, not pressure.

Try This Tomorrow: Multiples Movement Path
Make a path outdoors using cones, chalk, hoops or laminated number cards. One path can focus on the 3 times table and another can focus on the 4 times table.
Children travel along the path saying the multiples aloud as they move. They might step through 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 or jump through 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24.
Once children are confident, add challenge questions. Ask, “What is 3 x 7?”, “Which multiple comes before 24?”, “Can you find 4 groups of 6?” or “Can you make the answer using natural objects?”
Children can also create their own path for a partner to follow.
Time: 10–15 minutes
Prep: Very low
Best for: counting in multiples, multiplication recall, movement and confidence
