Before the children go outside, tell them a story of a terrible mystery that happened a long time ago; when a small cat, called Murphy, magically disappeared without a clue! But, today, we’ve been tasked with discovering the fate of this poor little furry creature. Out there, there are 15 rocks. By finding all 15 rocks, we can find out the answer and hopefully help rescue poor little Murphy.
Now, you can split the group in two halves, with one half finding 15 rocks on one half of your outdoor space and the other half, on the other side, finding another 15 rocks. Let’s see who solves the mystery the fastest.
Each rock needs to have a word that makes up a sentence that explains what happened. An example is:
‘Murphy was really not a cat at all, but a wizard who turned himself human!
You can create any sentence that you want to explain what happened. This fun activity can be used in many ways.
