Cop 26 2021 Glasgow Lesson Plan

Try some of these introduction activities

Take the children outside and explain to the children that COP 26 is coming to Glasgow this year. Tell them that COP26 is a big meeting where almost all the countries across Planet Earth gather together and discuss climate change. The last one was COP 21 ; it was in Paris and led to the Paris Agreement, which countries signed up to and agreed to reduce their carbon footprint.

Take the children outside and do the Muddy Walk and Talk. Ask the children to discuss what they think the leaders would discuss? Pollution from vehicles? Cutting down trees? Allow the children to pair up and walk clockwise as they generate these ideas together. Then pause and allow children to share.

Hand over some chalk and ask the children to write these ideas as one-word answers on the floors and walls.
