All of our resources follow The Muddy Puddle Teacher Approach.
We have created an outdoor learning approach that fits around an educational setting. We consider manageability, spaces, individual needs and how best the curriculum can be linked. We also only use natural resources so once you have our ideas you are set to go!
Outdoor learning is not easy and often hard to juggle with your indoor commitments. However, after two years of working alongside schools and teachers, we are proud of creating an outdoor learning approach that works and is being sustained from EYFS-KS2. Take a look at some of our flagship schools proudly flying the Muddy Puddles Flag.
Each teacher lesson plan is the same, to help you navigate around our teaching resources with ease. We provide a teaching objective from the year groups curriculum, with additional subject links success criteria and a reminder of safety tips. We then give you all the ways and ideas to teach it in all of the different weather types. Including an introduction activity, main activity and reflection task. You may want to do the full lesson, you may just want to do the intro and take the rest indoors. It is up to you. But the important thing is, the options are there for you.
We also include a backup -template that is differentiated, in case the rain or cold becomes a bit too much! Outdoor learning is personal and if we want you to go out more it has to be what you are comfortable with.
In each pack you will also find a home learning sheet, to help better include parents into this alternative and active approach to learning. It provides ideas they could also do at home and reasons why outdoor learning is more important than ever for children today.
There are no rainy-day excuses at The Muddy Puddle Teacher. We have a lesson ready and waiting for you to teach at your leisure in any weather!
