Who is The Muddy Puddle Teacher? 

We are the proud creators of The Muddy Puddle Teacher Approach. Made by teachers for teachers. 

This incredible approach gives you the ideas, tools and guidance to take your curriculum outdoors, use natural resources and embrace teaching all year round!

Through this approach, your children will receive a unique academic experience that is cross-curricula. More importantly, you’ll have a positive impact on their physical health and mental wellbeing. Learning will become more memorable for children and you’ll find that they are fuelled with enthusiasm as their confidence increases!

Our approach will also support your own wellbeing as an educator. As you begin your journey as a Muddy Puddle Teacher, you’ll find that you become more creative and increase your own physical activity.

From teaching partitioning with sticks to learning phonics with leaves and mud.  We have all the ideas, knowledge , skills and expertise to get you there!

Why do you need this training?

The Muddy Puddle Teacher Approach is proving to have a profound effect on the whole school community.  The children in particular are gaining increased engagement into their academic studies, the sensory experiences are supporting development for SEND and children with behavioural issues and an increased connection with nature to name a few. Parents are loving the active and fun ways the approach delivers areas of the curriculum and their children’s eagerness to participate. Teachers are feeling the health and well-being benefits empowering.  Leaders are welcoming of the improved focus to learn, happy and healthy community and raised levels of achievement. To have all of your teachers trained on the approach by receiving ‘The Muddy Puddle Teacher Award’ would mean that all pockets of children gain this approach not just the selected few. All children should have the opportunity to learn in engaging, interactive ways and to connect with nature. 

Who delivers the training?

Delivered by Muddy Puddle Teacher Founder, Sarah Seaman we will train your entire staff team to achieve The Muddy Puddle Teacher Award. 

Who is the training aimed at?

There is no entry level requirement for the INSET or Consultation work. But staff do need a knowledge of their curriculum to adapt their approach too. This training is suitable for all teachers and support staff, regardless of the extent of their prior knowledge of outdoor education, or practitioner level within the school. We welcome all levels of school staff and partners for these sessions, whether they are: LSAs, school governors, deputies, AHTs, subject leaders or MMS. This training is appropriate for any member of your school community.

What can a consultation service do for you?

The Muddy Puddle Teacher Approach is proving to have a profound effect on the whole school community.  Consultation is more suitable for those with challenging needs such as severe behavioural issues, limited space and resources, below average attianment levels. Through a consultation basis we can access the needs and fine a more bespoke option for you to engage with this approach.  This may be through a care plan or by tailoring parts of the approach to suit you and your setting.  Either way, we will get your staff and the curriculum outside.

Delivered by Muddy Puddle Teacher Founder, Sarah Seaman. We will discuss which staff members we will address dependant on your needs.
